Play Without Fear is a series of guides to help players deal with some of the most challenging aspects of Killing Floor in the safest and most efficient ways possible.  This guide will examine the Patriarch.

Patriarch!

This is it.  The big one.  The Patriarch is the boss of Killing Floor, and it’s no wonder why.  He is the healthiest of all the Zeds and is equipped with a set of the deadliest attack abilities in the game, as well as the most effective defense mechanisms.  His rockets can wipe a gathered team with one shot.  He can heal himself when dealt damage and can charge down his victims when cloaked.
Are you afraid?  You will be.  Read on to find out how to master yourself and play without fear.  This is your final test. (more…)

Play Without Fear: Basic Fleshpound Tactics

Play Without Fear is a series of guides to help players deal with some of the most challenging aspects of Killing Floor in the safest and most efficient ways possible.  This guide will examine the Fleshpound.

Fleshpound!

He’s intimidating.  He’s scary.  But he doesn’t have to be.  The most powerful weapon in the Fleshpound’s arsenal is its ability to instill fear and make players lose control of the situation.  The first reaction of almost any new player is to panic and unload all their ammo into a Fleshpound at once, which is about the worst thing you can do.  The Fleshpound is incredibly healthy, and chances are if you’re new to the game, you won’t be able to take it out before it reaches you or your teammates.  So how do you deal with it? Play Without Fear: Basic Scrake Tactics

Play Without Fear is a series of guides to help players deal with some of the most challenging aspects of Killing Floor in the safest and most efficient ways possible.  This guide will examine the Scrake.

SCRAKE!

Yes that IS a chainsaw he’s carrying, and unless you take out the Scrake fast, he’s going to use it…on YOU!  The Scrake is one of the most feared enemies in Killing Floor, but if you’ve got a few tactical tricks up your sleeve, taking it out shouldn’t be a problem. (more…)

Custom Killing Floor Key Binds (Part 2)

PixelDuck recently just posted an excellent post for keybinds so I thought I’d expand on what she posted. This post will cover status call outs, weapon binds, quick weapon switches and a couple of handy miscellaneous binds. Everything builds on the basic editing from PixelDuck’s post so you should have a grasp of editing your ini by now. If not, please go visit her post.

Remember, when using multiple commands in one keypress, you will need to separate the commands with the | “pipe” key.

For those who’ve played it, KF is built on the UT2K4 engine, so a lot of the commands that are throughout the UT series also work in KF and most of the references found on the net work for KF.

Now, onto the binds!

Custom Killing Floor Key Binds (Part 1)

Sometimes, it can be a right pain having to stop to type things that you type a lot, eg: Scrake/Sc when you see a Scrake coming. Notifying people that something is coming is important, but stopping to type it out can be dangerous. This is where making your own key binds can come in handy. You simply create a key bind with whatever text you say frequently, eg Scrake incoming!, and let the key do the work for you. No need for stopping to write it out every time.

Just follow this simple tutorial to set up your own key binds. I’ll cover where to make these key binds, examples of what key binds you might use a lot and auto voice commands.

Edit User.ini

The first thing you’ll need to do is open your Killing Floor User.ini, which for Windows 7 64bit  users (other Windows users, it will be located in a similar fashion) is located:

Dot of Doom Achievement Guide

If there’s ever an achievement that gets many people frustrated then it has to be  KF’s Dot of Doom achievement, but if you follow this simple guide then you’ll soon be on your way to seeing that lovely achievement popup on your screen.

(1) First things first, you’re going to need to install a mutator called Faked Players by Pedr0. This will greatly help getting enough clots to complete the achievement on wave 2. Install the mutator as it suggests and set the faked players amount to around 4 if you’re a low level perk like the one I used in the video. You’ll probably need a little less if you’re a level 6 and start with a crossbow that you can sell for an M14.

(2) Set the game to beginner mode and choose the stock map kf-mountainpass. The achievement can be done on any map of course, but I specifically chose this map because it allows you a lot of room to move around and weed out all the unwanted specimens as you will see in the video.
